As a closing activity for the course, we had to select six words or characters that represented our experience at NARPI (in any language). I chose the characters 貴/真한 人間味, to reflect the precious, genuine human warmth that I felt throughout the training and hope to share with others. In this period of transition, uncertainty, and discernment in my life, NARPI helped me find a sense of affirmation and belonging in this community of peacebuilders in Northeast Asia. I hope to stay involved in NARPI trainings, especially as I share the founder’s hope that in my lifetime, participants could include people from North Korea.
Mitsuki (Mimi) Tanaka
The experience in NARPI gave me future vision as a peace builder as well as knowledge and practical skills of peacebuilding. I learned about conflict analysis and circle process for conflict resolution. Both contents are useful to build peace both internationally and interpersonally. In addition through the conversation with NARPI members who have rich experiences of peacebuilding, I am determined to become a peace builder.

It has been the best part of the experience: meeting fantastic people doing incredible work in many countries and spending quality time with them. I have also really liked sharing time with many young people from North East Asia, who contributed significantly to the courses with their energy and questions.
