2017 NARPI Summer Peacebuilding Training in Okinawa

Hyojin Jang

Learning took place not only sitting and listening to the lecture, but also it happens from sharing each participant's stories. Each individual's story was so powerful in understanding what is peace and how to make peace in the communities we belong.”

Daichi Miyamoto

One of the impressive experience in NARPI is going round in the Abuchira Caves. I could imagine easily how Okinawan solders lived during the war. And, I could identify with their feeling a little. At the same time, I felt that  I have to learn their hardships, feeling and history.

Eri Somoto

I hear a person who was pro (U.S. military) base. It was helpful to understand Okinawa base issue especially Henoko. And it's really connect to nonviolent class. I'm really happy and glad to take the nonviolent course.

Jennifer Deibert

The facilitators not being "teachers" in a traditional way is really impacting. Of course, it's always the camaraderie among the participants that seems to make an impact. The culture of NARPI is strong!
